Uncover the mystery..LIVE THE ADVENTURE!!

Over the last year or so I worked on a game called MySims Agents for the Wii. It hits the shelves this week. If you're looking for a fun, goofy, light-hearted adventure game for your kids or if you're into that sort of thing yourself, check it out. It was a fun project and overall I think the game really came together well and would be a pleasant surprise for those who pick it up. Here's a sampling of things I did while on the game. Enjoy.

The Magic Whiteboard...

*The Magic Whiteboard has chosen to update the story...

Where I work, there is a magic whiteboard.

Sometimes as a concept artist - and we all deal with this - you just can't seem to draw or paint what's in your head and it's profoundly frustrating. Whenever I am having issues with what I'm trying to draw or concept on that particular day - I travel to The Magic Whiteboard. It is located in my co-worker's cube. (The great NORMAN FELCHLE)

*On a side note, I have often thought that the power emanates from Norm himself - as he is a proven Jedi Master. However, he denies such claims and says the power lay within the board...

Anyways, after I travel to The Magic Whiteboard, I briefly explain to Norm what I'm trying to draw, then I turn to the board and begin to sketch. Invariably, as if it were magic (and it is), I draw exactly what I have been trying to get down on paper. Poof!! Problem solved. After it is complete, Norm and I sit in silent awe at the awesome power that is The Magic Whiteboard. Then we go our separate ways and try to comprehend what we have witnessed.

I fear that one day The Magic Whiteboard will lose its powers and I will be helpless in my career as an artist. Until that day arrives, I will simply bask in its glory.

I can't show you actual work related sketches - because that's like, illegal. What I can show are a couple random doodles that have occured on The Magic Whiteboard. These weren't for any particular assignment at work, but rather a result of a strange conversation I had one day with Norm. The Magic Whiteboard called upon me to illustrate our conversation and I could not deny it. I am curious to see where this story ends...

NAH' DAWG !

I spent a little time fleshing out the quick sketch from below. Hopefully I'll get some color on this guy soon.

A quick doodle of a SF Muni bus driver that I encountered. This guy was real high-class. While at a bus stop - he waited until a pedestrian (who was running to catch the bus, and cleary visible) was about 3 feet from the door, at which time he promptly closed the door and drove off as the poor guy yelled, "Wait, stop!"

One of the passengers near the front of the bus spoke up and asked the driver why he would do such a thing instead of waiting an extra SECOND so that the guy running could've boarded the bus. His response was, and I quote, "Nah' dawg, this ain't no taxi, we don't wait!!" Wow...

What a colossal asshole!! What's even worse is that I've seen a lot of the other drivers behave in a similar manner. Is this part of their job training or something? What's the deal with these bus drivers?

All I know is - karma's a bitch...

Naked Doodles

These are from a recent life drawing session. I wasn't on drugs and the model wasn't shape shifting. Just entertaining myself after a day of work...

Sketchy...

A couple riffs in the sketchbook. Upon looking at these it seems like I have different personalities depending on the medium I doodle with.....actually I often feel like I've no real personality/style of my own - just an amalgamation of influences that I'm trying to emulate on that particular day. Perhaps that's why my career feels so stagnant and numb - I'm not "doing my own thing." But then I wonder if those who are doing their own thing have bills to pay...
